Former New Orleans Saints FS Darren Sharper said he is disappointed in the person who let out the news regarding the team's bounty program. "I'm most disappointed about is that a guy that was in the room or that was a part of that team is coming out and trying to tarnish what we were a part of that year," Sharper said. "It appalls me, it upsets me, and I would like to find out who that guy is. Maybe I'd put a hat on and take a shot at him."

Now that the New England Patriots have released both S Brandon Meriweather and S James Sanders, the team is effectively handing a the reins of the safety position over to S Patrick Chung. It is not clear who will start next to him in the secondary. The team could look to sign free-agent S Darren Sharper (Saints) and there has been talk of moving CBs Antwaun Molden or Ras-I Dowling to safety. Sergio Brown and Josh Barrett are also both in the mix.

Sharper will be eligible to be activated off the Physically Unable to Perform list after six weeks. He can return to practice at that time, and the Saints will have a three-week window to decide if they want to activate him or not. Sharper, who is still recovering from an early-April knee surgery, said that he's hoping to return during the first week he is eligible. "I know I can play now," Sharper said. "Will I be better a month from now? Yes. Will I be better two months from now? Yes. So it's going to be a process of getting better and healthier each and every day that passes.
