The Green Bay Packers announced Saturday, Jan. 27, that former WR Robert Brooks and S LeRoy Butler will be inducted into the team's Hall of Fame July 21, 2007.

The Florida Times-Union reports former Green Bay Packers S and Florida native LeRoy Butler is interested in joining the Jacksonville Jaguars either as an assistant on the field or in the front office. He has sent a letter to the team expressing his interest. Team spokesman Dan Edwards said new head coach Jack Del Rio is still in the process of putting together his staff, so it is unknown if Butler would fit into his plans.

Todd McMahon reports for the News-Chronicle former Green Bay Packers S LeRoy Butler could return to the team as an assistant coach, if there is an opening and if he decides he wants to. Reached Tuesday at his residence, Butler said he hasn't given much consideration to possibly rejoining the Packers in a coaching capacity next season. Butler sent a resume Tuesday to Jacksonville Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver. While he awaits a response from Weaver, Butler said "another (NFL) team in Florida" extended "a real nice offer" a couple weeks ago for a jack-of-all-trades position. He wouldn't divulge the team.

The Journal Sentinel reports ESPN has hired former Packers S LeRoy Butler as a football analyst. His duties will include helping the network's studio announcers break down film. He will also analyze play and offer his opinions on ESPN.com Sunday night and do a segment on ESPNews on Monday.

The News-Chronicle reports Green Bay Packers rookie S Marques Anderson could be thrown into a starter's role right off the bat. He is a candidate to fill the void at free safety until starting S LeRoy Butler and Antuan Edwards are given a clean bill of health. "There's a lot of pressure for me to get in there right away," Anderson said Wednesday. "I have to be on top of my game in case something happens where (Butler and Edwards) aren't ready to go." Butler is expected to miss the first two weeks of training camp as he recovers from a shoulder injury. Edwards is on track to rejoin his teammates at the outset of camp.

ESPN.com’s Len Pasquarelli reports Green Bay Packers SS LeRoy Butler has agreed to restructure his salary. Butler will have his salary ($2.25 million) slashed down to $750,000 this year. Butler can earn back $750,000 through playing time incentives. Butler remains under contract through 2005 and is still recovering from a fractured left scapula (shoulder).

Tom Silverstein, of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, reports for the Sporting News that Green Bay Packers S LeRoy Butler (shoulder) will not participate in contact drills until the end of training camp. Butler has been working with a personal trainer to get him in shape. He is close to being cleared for action.

The News-Chronicle reports the Green Bay Packers may be getting a jump on the rest of the league with the work they are doing at their mini-camps. Instead of going through drills over and over, coach Mike Sherman took an approach to get the Packers going when training camp begins. "We're going to be ahead of every team in the league, because we're installing everything this (camp)," S LeRoy Butler said.
