Mon, 06 May 2013 16:15:39 -0700 The Los Angeles Dodgers will place 2B Mark Ellis (quadriceps) on the 15-day disabled list Monday, May 6, to make room on the roster for SP Chris Capuano (calf), who is being activated from the disabled list. Fantasy Tip: Nick Punto and Skip Schumaker will likely continue to split time at the keystone with Ellis moving to the disabled list. Neither option is valuable beyond NL-only leagues, however.
Fri, 03 May 2013 18:13:18 -0700 Los Angeles Dodgers SP Chris Capuano (calf) threw a bullpen session Friday, May 3, and he is likely to come off the 15-day disabled list to start Monday, May 6. Fantasy Tip: If Capuano is officially penciled in for Monday, he would be a two-start pitcher worth using in all NL-only fantasy leagues and some deeper mixed formats as well.
Mon, 29 Apr 2013 12:22:54 -0700 Los Angeles Dodgers SP Chris Capuano (calf) will make a rehab start with Triple-A Albuquerque Wednesday, May 1. He threw a simulated game Saturday, April 27. Fantasy Tip: Capuano could take the fifth spot in the rotation for the Dodgers when he returns from the disabled list, so keep an eye on him in deep mixed formats.
Sat, 27 Apr 2013 09:43:06 -0700 Los Angeles Dodgers SP Chris Capuano (calf) is unlikely to be activated from the disabled list when he is eligible to return to action Thursday, May 2. Manager Don Mattingly wants him to make at least one rehab start before he is activated. Barring any setbacks, he could return to action against the Arizona Diamondbacks May 8. Capuano played catch Friday, April 26, and has also started a running program.
Fri, 26 Apr 2013 18:45:34 -0700 Los Angeles Dodgers SP Chris Capuano (calf) is scheduled to throw a simulated game Sunday, April 28, and then he will likely head out for a minor-league rehab start before he comes off the 15-day disabled list.
Fri, 19 Apr 2013 14:26:53 -0700 Los Angeles Dodgers SP Chris Capuano's (calf) MRI exam revealed a strained calf. He's scheduled to receive a platelet-rich plasma injection to speed his recovery. Fantasy Tip: Ted Lilly is taking Capuano's spot in the rotation. Expect Capuano to return to a relief role when he's healthy, unless there is another opening in the rotation by then.
Wed, 17 Apr 2013 19:25:37 -0700 Los Angeles Dodgers SP Chris Capuano (calf) said Wednesday, April 17, that he felt tightness in his left calf before the game April 11 against the San Diego Padres. That was the day of the infamous brawl, and he said he felt the calf became tighter while he sprinted in from the bullpen during the fracas. However, after four days of treatment, he felt well enough to start Tuesday, April 16, only to partially tear the muscle when he sprinted off the mound to cover first base.
Wed, 17 Apr 2013 16:29:50 -0700 Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Wednesday, April 17, that the team will insert SP Ted Lilly (back) into the rotation next week in place of SP Chris Capuano (calf). "I'm not sure where else I would go," Mattingly said. Fantasy Tip: The team doesn't feel Lilly is ready, especially after he was tagged for four runs - three earned - and seven hits over five innings in a minor-league rehab start for Class A Rancho Cucamonga Tuesday. Still, Lilly appears to be getting his shot, and he is certainly worth adding in NL-only fantasy leagues if you're desperate for starting pitching.
Wed, 17 Apr 2013 15:49:24 -0700 The Los Angeles Dodgers placed Chris Capuano (calf) on the 15-day disabled list and recalled C Tim Federowicz from Class AAA Albuquerque. Fantasy Tip: As previously reported, Los Angeles doesn't need a fifth starter until late next week. They'll likely use this time to rest Ted Lilly (shoulder) before he takes Capuano's spot. Lilly is worth stashing if you have room in a deep mixed setup.
Wed, 17 Apr 2013 09:53:27 -0700 Los Angeles Dodgers SP Chris Capuano (calf) believes his calf injury definitely isn't a full tear and nothing more than a mild strain. MRI results will determine the true extent of the damage. The Dodgers don't need a fifth starter until April 24. If Capuano is sidelined for more than a few days, Ted Lilly (shoulder) is likely to jump into the team's rotation. Fantasy Tip: It seems all too likely that Lilly will eventually take Capuano's spot in the Dodgers' rotation. He deserves deep fantasy leagues consideration.
