Capuano is scheduled to visit Dr. James Andrews Tuesday, May 13, and could have the operation as soon as Thursday, May 15. The operation will likely keep Capuano out of action for about a year.

He has completed five minutes of throwing from 60 feet and three minutes from 75 feet, according to assistant general manager Gord Ash. He will throw from 90 and 120 feet in the upcoming days. He is still weeks away from throwing off a mound.

Capuano will seek a third opinion from Dr. James Andrews before deciding on Tommy John surgery or an attempt at rehabilitation. Capuano underwent Tommy John surgery in 2002 and it took him 11 months before he was back on the mound competitively. If it is determined he will need a second Tommy John surgery, he would have it as soon as possible and probably before the start of the season. The injury occurred Monday, March 17, in a split-squad game.
