Boston Red Sox OFs Daniel Nava and Scott Podsednik and C Kelly Shoppach each went 2-for-3 with one home run against the Baltimore Orioles Wednesday, May 23. Nava and Podsednik hit solo home runs and Shoppach hit a two-run home run.

The Boston Red Sox officially placed OF Cody Ross (foot) on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, May 22, and recalled OF Scott Podsednik from the minors in a corresponding move. SP Daisuke Matsuzaka (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day DL.

Boston Red Sox OF Cody Ross (foot) may not need to go on the disabled list after a second opinion revealed his fracture may be an old injury. Manager Bobby Valentine said Ross could need just two weeks on the DL instead of two months. OF Scott Podsednik may be activated depending on what happens with Ross.

The Boston Red Sox acquired OF Scott Podsednik from the Philadelphia Phillies Friday, May 11. It's unclear what the Phillies received in exchange, and it's unknown if Podsednik will report to Boston or Triple-A Pawtucket.

Philadelphia Phillies minor league OF Scott Podsednik is eligible to become a free agent if he is not on the team's major league roster by June 1. The Phillies aren't obligated to let him go if he receives a big league offer from another team but would consider making a fair trade.

Philadelphia Phillies OF Scott Podsednik is contractually obligated to accept a minor-league assignment. He said Wednesday, April 4, it "depends on the situation" as to whether he'd accept the assignment to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. His other option is retirement, unless the team grants his release.
