Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Doug Pederson gave QB Alex Smith high praise, calling him the best quarterback in the NFL. "Ultimately, every team has to have a quarterback," Pederson said. "I think we have the best in the league." "There are a lot of great ones," Pederson said, "but over time, Alex has proven he can get it done. He's a sharp guy, he brings a wealth of knowledge, he's experienced, he's a proven winner the last couple of years, and he needs a team to embrace him."

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid could look to bring some of his former assistant coaches with the Philadelphia Eagles with him to Kansas City. Former Cleveland Browns head coach Pat Shurmur will likely be lured to the Chiefs by Reid, as well as Browns offensive coordinator Brad Childress. Doug Pederson, who was an assistant coach in Philadelphia in 2009, could be another option. Reid has reportedly made an offer to former Eagles defensive coordinator Juan Castillo to become the offensive line coach.
