DallasCowboys.com reports Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he would visit with OG Marco Rivera (back) this week to determine his status after undergoing back surgery. It was Rivera's second back surgery in two years. Rivera continues to rehab after this offseason's surgery, but his future with the Cowboys is in question.

Rivera, who is currently going through rehabilitation after having back surgery, said, "It's going to take time. My goal is to be there for the first game of the season."

Mac Engel, of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, reports Dallas Cowboys OG Marco Rivera's tenure with the team is likely over after the team agreed to a contract with OL Marc Colombo. Rivera is coming off his second back surgery in two years and there is a possibility that he could retire. Talking about Rivera's future with the team, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said, "He will decide what his future is going to be. I don't need to go into his pluses. We are all aware of the issues of his back. [Signing Colombo] allows us the flexibility to be pretty patient with Rivera."

Hill Jr, of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, reports Dallas Cowboys OG Marco Rivera (neck) returned to Dallas Monday, Dec. 19, after spending the night in a Washington-area hospital for a sprained neck injury. Rivera stayed overnight for precautionary reasons. Tests and scans all came back negative, according to Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells. Rivera is listed as day-to-day.

Mosley asked if he had any restrictions and Rivera replied, "None whatsoever. If camp started tomorrow, I'd be out there. I passed the run test recently, and I'm lifting the same weights that I was lifting before I was injured."

"Don't worry," Rivera said. "I'm on schedule to be ready to go with the team in July. I know I'll be ready to play." The team is equally optimistic Rivera will be fully recovered after he underwent back surgery earlier this year.

Dallas Cowboys OG Marco Rivera (back) said his goal is to return to the field by the team's first minicamp session, which is scheduled for April 28-May 1, reports Mickey Spagnola of DallasCowboys.com. However, team doctors are not expected to rush Rivera back, so the rehab could be extended. Rivera recently underwent microdiscectomy surgery on his back, a procedure that typically takes eight weeks to heal. He has already begun running on a treadmill.

Dallas Cowboys OG Marco Rivera (back) said his initial reaction was to return his $9 million signing bonus when he found out that he'd need microdiscectomy surgery on his back following a workout injury suffered shortly after he signed a five-year, $20 million deal with the Cowboys, reports Mickey Spagnola of DallasCowboys.com. "That was my first thought," said Rivera. "I don't want to be a guy who signs with a team, collects a check and sits on the sideline. If I'm going to be there, I want to help win championships, or I'm out." Rivera eventually changed his mind after talking with team personnel.

Jean-Jacques Taylor, of the Dallas Morning News, reports Dallas Cowboys G Marco Rivera (back) underwent surgery to repair a herniated disc in his back Thursday morning, March 10, according to two sources. Rivera will likely need three to five weeks to rehab and he should be ready for training camp in July. Rivera could possibly participate during the team's June workouts, but the club is expected to exercise caution with him.
