49ers | Amundson Taking Special Teams Route to the Roster

Dave Albee, of the Independent Journal, reports if San Francisco 49ers CB Allan Amundson is going to make the roster he will have to prove his value on special teams. The former Cheesecake Factory waiter spent time in NFL Europe honing his skills at cornerback and returning kicks and punts. He led NFL Europe in punt returns. The 49ers may utilize his speed and ability to do that in preseason, especially since CB/PR Jimmy Williams is no longer on the team and WR Arnaz Battle will begin taking more reps at wide receiver. "The spot is kind of open, which is good for me," Amundson said. "As a new cornerback, I need all the chances and help I can, but special teams is my first avenue for making the team."
