Gabrielle Banks, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports charged have been dropped against the alleged shooter, Tyrone Watson, in an incident June 1 at a restaurant. Watson had been held at the Allegheny County (Pa.) Jail on $500,000 bond. His attorney said he expected Watson to be released promptly. He was charged with five aggravated assault counts, five reckless endangerment counts and one charge of carrying a firearm without a license. The attack injured former NFL S Russell Stuvaints, who was shot in the right hip.

Jerome L. Sherman, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports former NFL S Russell Stuvaints was shot early Sunday, June 1, when an argument at a restaurant escalated into a shooting. Stuvaints was one of five shot in the incident and was injured in the right hip. None of the injuries were considered life threatening. Allegheny County (Pa.) Police arrested Tyrone Watson and charged him with five counts of aggravates assault, five counts of recklessly endangering another person and one count of carrying an unlicensed firearm, according to county police Assistant Superintendent Jim Morton.

Ed Bouchette, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports the Pittsburgh Steelers have released SS Russell Stuvaints (knee). The team saves $230,000 on the salary cap by releasing him. Because Stuvaints is injured with a torn ACL, the team has 25 days to re-sign him or they face a grievance filed against them.

Pittsburgh Steelers S Russell Stuvaints (knee) suffered a torn ACL during Week 11 and will miss the remainder of the 2005 season. He is scheduled to have surgery in about a week to repair the injury.
