Tampa Bay Rays SP Erasmo Ramirez allowed nine runs - seven earned - and eight hits over 3 1/3 innings with three walks and four strikeouts in a loss Wednesday, April 15, against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Fantasy Tip: Ramirez has been atrocious in two appearances with the Rays, so FantasyScore owners will want to stay far away until he starts to click. He might not get another chance in the rotation after this clunker.

Tampa Bay Rays SP Erasmo Ramirez will make the start Wednesday, April 15, against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Fantasy Tip: Ramirez makes his first start since being acquired from Seattle right before the end of spring training. He has a relief appearance, and he didnít look very good. Avoid him at $3,600 (or 7.2% of cap) in FantasyScore until he can start to pitch with some consistency.

Tampa Bay Rays SP Erasmo Ramirez appears to be slated for the No. 4 spot in the team's rotation, as he has more experience than SP Matt Andriese, who has yet to pitch in the majors. "When you have a player who has pitched in the majors and started a number of games, you have a better sense of what he can do," baseball operations president Matt Silverman said Wednesday, April 1. "We think he can give us those good innings while we work through some of the issues that we have with injuries in the first month of the season."
Fantasy Tip: If Ramirez is officially plugged into the rotation he will be a great FantasyScore value at just $3,000 (or 6.0% of the cap). He might be included in the rotation for at least the first month until Alex Cobb is ready to return.

The Tampa Bay Rays acquired SP Erasmo Ramirez from the Seattle Mariners Tuesday, March 31, in exchange for P Mike Montgomery.
Fantasy Tip: Ramirez is likely to open the season in Tampa Bay's rotation with several injuries to frontline starters. At just $3,000 (or 6.0% of cap) Ramirez could be a sneaky low-end FantasyScore option if he makes a couple of starts early in the season.

Seattle Mariners SP Taijuan Walker appears to have won the No. 5 spot in the starting rotation, following the club's demotion of SP Roenis Elias to Triple-A Tacoma. However, manager Lloyd McClendon has not confirmed that the job is his, noting that SP Erasmo Ramirez is still in camp. SPs Felix Hernandez, James Paxton, Hisashi Iwakuma and J.A. Happ have already locked up the first four spots in the rotation.
Fantasy Tip: The 22-year-old Walker has pitched well enough to earn the job this spring, carrying a streak of 18 scoreless innings into his next scheduled start against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Monday, March 30. He was already worthy of being drafted in AL-only leagues and now it appears that owners in mixed leagues should have him on their radar as well.

Seattle Mariners RP Charlie Furbush likely will have a roster spot to open the year, as manager Lloyd McClendon wants two left-handed relievers. The other could be one of RPs Lucas Luetge, Rafael Perez or David Rollins. RPs Yoervis Medina, Danny Farquhar, Tom Wilhelmsen, Dominic Leone and Carson Smith will likely battle for the other four bullpen slots outside of RP Fernando Rodney. Ps Mark Lowe and Erasmo Ramirez are also options.
