Jerry DiPaola, of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, reports the Pittsburgh Steelers have numerous candidates capable of performing the long-snapping duties for the team, but incumbent LS/C Mike Schneck continues to prove his value to the team each season. "Let's be honest," special teams coach Kevin Spencer said, "I don't think we're ever going to compromise. We have to have a guy who can be effective and get the job done. But we're not going to go with a lesser guy just because he can play another position. That's why Mike is still here." The other players competing for the job include C Chance Pearce, TE Jay Riemersma, OL Todd Fordham and rookie C Drew Caylor.

LS Chance Pearce's (Texans) agent, Kevin M. Gold, of Longsnap.com, has confirmed to KFFL that Pearce has been signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers to a two-year deal. Financial terms were not available.
