New York Jets special teams coach Mike Westhoff admitted that PK Josh Brown and PK Nick Folk will be in a battle for the team's kicking job. "I want to create the most competitive atmosphere that I possibly can," Westhoff said. "Josh Brown is the best candidate to do that with. We want to have a viable battle here to see who's going to win our job and to get the best possible guy that we can put on the field."

"Oh yeah, absolutely, it wears you down man," Brown said. "It's hard, and it's your responsibility to stay up." Brown believes lack of focus led to his miss last week in a shutout loss against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

"Jeff left a great amount of space to fill," Brown said. "He did a great job for a long time. The Associated Press reports Seattle Seahawks PK Josh Brown matched an NFL single-season record Week 13 with his fourth winning field goal in the final minute of a game. Brown hit a 50-yard field goal with four seconds left to give the Seahawks a 23-20 victory over the Denver Broncos. Brown missed from 40 and 53 yards in the first half of the game, but was good from 44, 23 and 50 in the second half.

Brown connected on three field goals as the defending NFC Champions beat the Detroit Lions 9-6 at Ford Field.
