The Milwaukee Brewers signed free-agent RP Seth McClung (Rangers) to a minor league deal Tuesday, Jan. 10. The deal doesn't include an invite to spring training, though. "I'm going to have to go down to the minor league camp and work down there," McClung said. "But they're going to give me some of those innings in spring training when they need the young guys to come up. I wouldn't have done that for any other team than Milwaukee."

The Texas Rangers have optioned Ps Eric Hurley and Ryan Tucker and IFs Chad X. Tracy and Brian Barden to Triple-A Round Rock, according to Anthony Andro of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. C Jose Felix and 1B Jose Julio Ruiz have been optioned to Double-A Frisco. Ps Cody Eppley and Seth McClung have been reassigned to minor league camp.

Updating previous reports, Texas Rangers P Seth McClung will earn $700,000 if he makes the major league roster next season, according to ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick. He can earn an additional $700,000 in bonuses based on games started.

The Texas Rangers signed free-agent RP Seth McClung (Marlins) to a split minor league deal Friday, Dec. 17, according to ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick. McClung will receive a look as a starter in Spring Training.

Alden Gonzalez, of MLB.com, reports Florida Marlins RPs Seth McClung, Tim Wood, Chris Leroux and Scott Strickland appear to be competing for the last spot in the bullpen this year. Locks for the pen are RPs Leo Nunez, Dan Meyer, Renyel Pinto, Brian Sanches, Burke Badenhop and Jose Veras. Other options for the bullpen could be Ps Rick VandenHurk, Hayden Penn, Clay Hensley and Andrew Miller. Meyer, Pinto, Veras or Sanches are all options to see some work in the ninth inning during the year if Nunez needs a rest, according to manager Fredi Gonzalez.

The Palm Beach Post's Joe Capozzi reports the Florida Marlins officially extended their spring training invites Monday, Feb. 8. Players given invites to spring camp included Ps Clay Hensley, Dan Jennings, Jay Voss, Seth McClung, Kasey Olenberger, Matt Peterson, Chris Schroder, Scott Strickland, Derrick Turnbow and Jose Veras; Cs Vinny Rottino, Bradley Davis and Chris Hatcher; IFs Brian Barden, Matt Dominguez, Osvaldo Martinez, Logan Morrison, Hector Luna, Donnie Murphy and Danny Richar; and OFs Bryan Petersen and Michael Stanton.
