The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports Green Bay Packers LB Nate Wayne (back) and CB/KR Allen Rossum (knee) are OUT for Sunday. DE Jamal Reynolds (knee) practiced Friday, but he may be inactive Sunday. DE John Thierry (knee) and NT Gilbert Brown (toes) are expected back in the starting lineup after missing two games. Thierry will wear a brace on his right knee. LB Rob Holmberg will start for Chris Gizzi who is on IR and gone for the season. Rookie LB Torrance Marshall returns to his backup role.

The Charlotte Observer reports LBs Lester Towns, Dean Wells and Nate Hemsley are expected to start Sunday for the Carolina Panthers. Darren Hambrick, Jeff Posey and Rob Holmberg will be the backups. Hambrick, claimed off waivers from Dallas on Wednesday, practiced for the first time Thursday.

The Associated Press reports the New England Patriots have signed free agent LB Rob Holmberg. He appeared in every game and started five times for the Patriots last year but was cut this season in training camp. He has played with the Raiders, Colts, Jets and Vikings. The team also placed rookie NT Jace Sayler on injured reserve with a left knee injury.

The Providence Journal reports WR Troy Brown (quadriceps) and RB J.R. Redmond (ribs) were excused from a second straight practice Wednesday. G Joe Andruzzi (shoulder), SS Lawyer Milloy (leg), T Grant Williams (leg) and LBs Ted Johnson (hamstring) and Rob Holmberg (shoulder) saw only limited duty. QB John Friesz (knee) and CB Ty Law (shoulder) took part in the afternoon workout.
