The plan is for Toronto Blue Jays C Erik Kratz to continue working with SP R.A. Dickey this spring, meaning Kratz has the inside track over C Josh Thole for the job to back up C Dioner Navarro. However, manager John Gibbons is saying not to read anything into it, despite praising Kratz's work with the knuckleballer.

Toronto Blue Jays SP R.A. Dickey is honored to be named as the opening day starter for the second consecutive season. "What an honor, to represent not only a team but as country on the first night of the year," Dickey said Wednesday, Feb. 19. "It's pretty special. And I never take something that lightly. My story is such that those kinds of experiences are highly valued."
Fantasy Tip: Dickey will open the season Tuesday, April 1, with a road start against the Tampa Bay Rays. In case you wanted to get a quick jump on things, he was 3-1 with a 2.93 ERA in six starts with one complete game against the Rays in 2013, and he was 1-0 with a 2.45 ERA in three outings with the complete game coming at Tropicana Field. It appears he will get off to a quick start for fantasy owners as he faces a team he is obviously comfortable against.

Toronto Blue Jays SP R.A. Dickey has asked his catchers to wear a helmet camera so he can review film of his knuckleball. Dickey has been very impressed with that pitch this spring. "The more information for me, the better. It's good to get kind of a real unique perspective," Dickey said. "When you can put a camera on top of a catcher's mask, I can really see my body as it comes down the slopes, see mechanically what it does. That camera in particular is high-definition so I can see rotation and things like that. It gives me great feedback, which is why I wanted to use it."

Dickey finished their first seasons with the team after a slow start, and a return to health by SP Brandon Morrow (forearm) would be a deciding factor.
