Phillies | Chase Utley out of the lineup

Sun, 24 May 2015 09:58:33 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 2B Chase Utley is not in the starting lineup Sunday, May 24. INF Cesar Hernandez will start at second base for the Phillies.

Fantasy Tip: Utley ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) likely is sitting because the team is facing a left-handed pitcher. Hernandez ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has posted decent numbers in his limited playing time, but owners on FantasyScore should be able to find better options.

Phillies | Chase Utley hitting third against Rockies

Wed, 20 May 2015 14:55:37 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 2B Chase Utley is hitting third in the batting order against Colorado Rockies SP Eddie Butler Wednesday, May 20.

Fantasy Tip: Utley ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) is still hitting only .148 (18-for-122) with three home runs and 11 RBI this year, but he's in the midst of a modest four-game hitting streak (5-for-12). He's a .341 career hitter with seven home runs at hitter-friendly Coors Field, too. Is tonight the perfect storm for Utley to cash in as a sleeper play at FantasyScore? It could be.

Phillies | Chase Utley out Sunday

Sun, 17 May 2015 08:41:38 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 2B Chase Utley is not in the starting lineup Sunday, May 17, against the Arizona Diamondbacks. 2B Andres Blanco will start at second base and hit second in the order.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is a switch-hitter, but he is batting just .250 against RHPs this season, compared to .364 against lefties. Even with a great spot in the lineup, Blanco doesn't warrant much consideration.

Phillies | Chase Utley drops in order

Fri, 15 May 2015 11:42:35 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 2B Chase Utley has been dropped to sixth in the starting lineup Friday, May 15. OF Grady Sizemore will be batting third in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Utley ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has been off to a tough start this season with a .118 batting average, so moving down in the order could help him. Sizemore ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) has five hits in his last four games and is hitting .357 in May. Owners on FantasyScore may want to avoid Utley until he breaks out of his slump but could consider using Sizemore as a cheaper option.

Phillies | Chase Utley not using his legs

Wed, 13 May 2015 16:29:31 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 2B Chase Utley is swinging too much with his hands this year and not using his legs enough at the plate, according to scouts.

Fantasy Tip: Utley ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) is declining quickly in 2015, hitting just .127 (13-for-102) with three home runs and 15 RBI. Despite hitting .156 (5-for-32) in May, he entered the game Wednesday riding a four-game hitting streak. Utley was an extremely weak play at FantasyScore tonight while facing Pittsburgh Pirates lefty starter Francisco Liriano.

Phillies | Chase Utley out Saturday

Sat, 09 May 2015 12:41:53 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 2B Chase Utley is not in the starting lineup against the New York Mets Saturday, May 9. INF Cesar Hernandez will play second base and bat fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Utley ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) is out of the starting lineup for the third time in the last four games. He is 1-for-21 this month and has seen his batting average for the season dip to .099. Needless to say, you should avoid using him in FantasyScore for the foreseeable future. Hernandez ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) also possesses very little fantasy value and better options can be found at a similar price.

Phillies | Chase Utley won't be dropped in lineup

Fri, 08 May 2015 21:27:44 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 2B Chase Utley went 0-for-4 in a 3-1 win over the New York Mets Friday, May 8, to lower his average to .099, but manager Ryne Sandberg said he doesn't want to move him from the No. 3 spot in the batting order.

Fantasy Tip: Utley ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) may have support from his Sandberg, but there is no reason for you to use him at FantasyScore until he show some signs of life in his bat.

Phillies | Chase Utley returns to the lineup

Fri, 08 May 2015 12:00:54 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 2B Chase Utley is batting third against the New York Mets Friday, May 8. Utley sat out the past two games to allow him to have three consecutive days of rest from Tuesday, May 5, through Thursday, May 7.

Fantasy Tip: Utley ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) is just 9-for-87 on the season, and he faces Mets' ace Matt Harvey Friday. Until Utley shows signs of life at the dish, he is best avoided in all fantasy formats. At 36, it is questionable just how far he can bounce back, too. Outside of NL-only and cavernous mixed leagues, fantasy owners should aim higher than Utley at this point.

Phillies | Chase Utley taking multiple days off

Tue, 05 May 2015 14:10:48 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 2B Chase Utley is likely to sit out both Tuesday, May 5, and Wednesday, May 6, which would give him three straight days off with an off day Thursday, May 7, according to manager Ryne Sandberg.

Fantasy Tip: There's no way you should have been starting Utley ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) at FantasyScore anyway, since he's hitting just .103 (9-for-87) with three home runs and 14 RBI on the season. Cesar Hernandez ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is starting tonight at second and will likely be in there again tomorrow. He's a weak play for daily gamers, though.

Phillies | Chase Utley hitting second

Sun, 03 May 2015 07:20:20 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 2B Chase Utley will hit second in the order Sunday, May 3, against the Miami Marlins.

Fantasy Tip: Utley ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) is hitting just .115 through 89 plate appearances and has an OBP of just .191. While Utley's .091 BABIP will start to rebound eventually, FantasyScore owners should be staying away until it does.
