The Boston Red Sox are still searching for low-cost pitching options on the free-agent market. Pitchers that are still looking for work include free-agent SPs Brandon Webb (Rangers), Scott Kazmir (Angels), Armando Galarraga (Diamondbacks), Jon Garland (Dodgers), Rich Harden (Athletics), Clay Hensley (Marlins), Livan Hernandez (Nationals), Brad Penny (Tigers), Joel Pineiro (Angels), Jeff Francis (Royals), Zach Duke (Diamondbacks), Bartolo Colon (Yankees) and Tim Wakefield (Red Sox).

Texas Rangers OF Endy Chavez, RP Mike Gonzalez, RP Darren Oliver, C Matt Treanor, SP Brandon Webb and SP C.J. Wilson have filed for free agency, according to the players union.

Texas Rangers SP Brandon Webb (shoulder) underwent successful rotator cuff surgery Friday, Aug. 5, and will start a rehab assignment in roughly six weeks.

Texas Rangers SP Brandon Webb (shoulder) had arthroscopic surgery on his shoulder Friday, July 22. Webb was to have the delaminated part of his rotator cuff sewn together with a platelet rich plasma injection.

Texas Rangers SP Brandon Webb (shoulder) will undergo rotator cuff surgery on his right shoulder Monday, Aug. 1. The procedure will be performed by Dr. Keith Meister, who also handled Webb's shoulder surgery two years ago. Webb's agent, Jonathan Maurer, said Webb still plans on returning to pitch. He will not be allowed to throw for at least four months.

Texas Rangers SP Brandon Webb (shoulder), who has been on the disabled list since spring training, will undergo an MRI on his right shoulder Tuesday, July 5. Webb was scratched Friday, July 1, from a medical rehabilitation assignment when his shoulder tightened up.

Updating a previous report, Texas Rangers SP Brandon Webb (shoulder) is expected to meet with a team doctor Saturday, July 2, about more discomfort in his shoulder. He was scratched from his Triple-A rehab start Friday, July 1, and said the injury had been bothering him leading up to the outing.
