According to The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, former Pittsburgh Pirates player and former Oakland Athletics and Houston Astros manager Art Howe is being pushed by a group of people for the Pirates' open manager position.

Drew Davison, of Rangers.MLB.com, reports Texas Rangers bench coach Art Howe was ejected Tuesday, July 3, for arguing with home plate umpire John Hirschbeck. This is the first time this season a Rangers player or coach has been ejected from a game.

Texas.Rangers.MLB.com reports the Texas Rangers have announced their field coaching staff for 2007. Joining manager Ron Washington will be hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo, pitching coach Mark Connor, bullpen coach Dom Chiti, third base coach Don Wakamatsu, bench coach Art Howe and infield instructor Gary Pettis.

T.R. Sullivan, of Texas.Rangers.MLB.com, reports the Texas Rangers announced former Oakland Athletics manager Art Howe will serve as the Rangers bench coach under new manager Ron Washington. Howe had originally taken a job as the Philadelphia Phillies third-base coach, however, when Washington was hired, the team gave him permission to talk with the Rangers. It will be Howe's second stint with club.

ESPN is reporting the New York Mets have fired MAN Art Howe, effective at the end of the season. Mets general manager Jim Duquette preferred Howe finish out the final 17 games of the season, rather than leave immediately.
