During the 2004 preseason, Brown suffered a great loss when his mother passed away. Brown, who was very close to his mother and called her every day during the season, spent much of training camp driving from practice to the hospital to be by her side. "It's an honor, but I feel bad because I have to accept it because it's my mother," Brown said. "It was so hard for me to play this year with that on my mind. I thank my guys for recognizing my courage."
