Keith Jarrett, of the Asheville Citizen-Times, reports former NFL OL Ray Roberts (Lions) has been selected to the WNC Sports Hall of Fame. Roberts was the 10th player selected in the first round of the 1992 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks. Roberts also played for the Detroit Lions. He will be inducted April 27, at the 50th annual WNC Sports Awards Banquet, which is held by the Mountain Amateur Athletic Club.

The Indianapolis Colts have brought in four former NFL players to serve as assistant coaches during training camp, according to John Oehser of Colts.com: TE Pete Metzelaars, DE Cedric Hardman, OT Ray Roberts and RB Reggie Brooks.

SportsLine.com's Len Pasquarelli reports the Detroit Lions have released veteran OLT Ray Roberts today in a salary cap move. Roberts was set to receive a $500,000 roster bonus tomorrow. By releasing him, the Lions will save roughly $850,000 under the salary cap this year.
