Updating previous reports, Bill Campbell of the Dallas Morning News writes Texas Rangers outfielder Kevin Mench came in from a rehab assignment for his first start of the season Thursday as the Rangers put outfielder Doug Glanville (hamstring) on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Tuesday. Mench started in left field, while Carl Everett moved to right and Juan Gonzalez took a day off. Ryan Christenson started in center field for the third straight day after being called up to replace Glanville.

The Ft. Worth Star-Telegram's T.R. Sullivan reports rookie OF Ryan Christenson of the Texas Rangers had a memorable day Tuesday. His day began in Albuquerque with the Triple-A Oklahoma RedHawks. After flying to Oklahoma City (after a stopover in Dallas), he got the word he had been called up and returned to Dallas. In that evening's game, he started in center field and had a key hit that scored two runs off of Anaheim Angels ace Jarrod Washburn.
