However, it's uncertain whether they will be buyers or sellers at the trade deadline; entering play Sunday, July 20, the Royals had a 48-48 record. Byrd has a limited no-trade clause and has the ability to block a trade to Kansas City.

However, Byrd's preference is to stay in Philadelphia, and he has a four-team no-trade clause which includes Seattle. As such, a deal is said to be "less than likely", according to a league source.

Philadelphia Phillies OF Marlon Byrd, who leads the team in home runs (18) and slugging percentage (.481) and is second in RBIs (52), does not want to be traded this summer. Byrd's current contract allows him to block a trade to only four teams: the Seattle Mariners, Kansas City Royals, Toronto Blue Jays and Tampa Bay Rays. The Mariners reportedly are eyeing Byrd, too. Byrd said that he would consider a trade to a team on his no-trade list, however.

Fantasy Tip: Byrd has been a nice surprise this season, and his value could actually increase a bit if he's traded to a contender with a more potent lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Though he already has hit 18 home runs in 2014, the 34-year-old probably would be a reasonably priced acquisition that immediately would boost the M's lineup. He'd be an attractive FAAB prize for AL-only players who could approach 30 homers by season's end.
