Sat, 03 Oct 2015 11:00:56 -0700

Giants | Marlon Byrd out of lineup Friday

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 17:45:03 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Marlon Byrd is not in the starting lineup against Colorado Rockies SP Kyle Kendrick Friday, Oct. 2. OF Jarrett Parker will bat sixth and play right field.

Fantasy Tip: The Giants do not want Byrd ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) to receive 15 plate appearances between now and the end of the regular season, in order to avoid having to pay his $8 million option for next year, so he is a risky FantasyScore play this weekend. Parker ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) is batting .364 with four home runs and nine RBIs in 22 at-bats over the past week and is an excellent value option in FantasyScore.

Giants | Marlon Byrd won't receive option

Thu, 01 Oct 2015 18:36:23 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Marlon Byrd will not receive an $8 million vesting option for next season despite needing just 15 plate appearances in order for the option to kick in. However, the team is still interested in bringing him back next season.

Fantasy Tip: Manager Bruce Bochy said the team wants to give Jarrett Parker ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) and Mac Williamson ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) more playing time during the final few games of the regular season. If the Giants had still been in the playoff hunt, Byrd would have continued to start and the option would have vested. He can be dropped in redraft leagues.

Giants | Marlon Byrd provides the spark

Sat, 29 Aug 2015 05:58:17 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Marlon Byrd went 1-for-5 with a grand slam during the Giants' 5-4 win over the St. Louis Cardinals Friday, Aug. 28.

Fantasy Tip: While Byrd ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) is just 7-for-28 since joining the Giants, he has three home runs and 10 RBI with a .930 OPS. It is a small sample size, but Byrd remains a solid contributor in the power categories. He has 22 home runs and 52 RBI for the season in just 103 games. It is easy to forget about the veteran, but he can help in deep mixed leagues.

Giants | Marlon Byrd hitting fifth in debut

Fri, 21 Aug 2015 13:32:41 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Marlon Byrd is starting in right field and batting fifth against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Jeff Locke in his debut with the Giants Friday, Aug. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Byrd ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) should play every day in San Fran's outfield, at least until Hunter Pence returns from the DL. Byrd's overall fantasy value takes a slight hit with the move to an ultra-friendly pitching park. On FantasyScore tonight against a lefty, Byrd isn't a bad option, as he's hitting .280 (23-for-82) with four of his 19 home runs against southpaws this year.
