Harvey Fialkov, of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, reports Miami Dolphins CB Will D. Allen started a brawl during practice Thursday, Aug. 14. Allen got tangled with WR David Kircus when suddenly Allen nailed Kircus with a forearm. Kircus fell to the ground and Allen jumped on him and started throwing punches at Kircus. As Allen stepped back, TE Sean P. Ryan decided to defend Kircus by leaping into the fight. A melee broke out as around 30 players from both sides of the ball piled on.

Updating a previous item, Mike Chambers, of the Denver Post, reports Denver Broncos WR David Kircus will remain with the team after passing a polygraph test, according to head coach Mike Shanahan. "David came to me and said, 'Hey, Coach, I guarantee I did not take the first swing. I defended myself. I probably used poor judgment, being at the wrong place at the wrong time.' "I said, 'Well, David, I'll give you a chance to take a lie-detector test,' and he wanted to do that. And he passed it with flying colors, so he will be on our football team," Shanahan said.

District Judge Anne Ollada said during a court hearing Friday, May 25, she wanted to hear from the alleged victim before making a final decision. Kircus was arrested for investigation of second-degree assault after he was believed to have struck a man at a party early Sunday, May 20.

Kircus posted a $6,000 bond and is due in Arapahoe County District Court Tuesday, May 22. If convicted, Kircus could be sentenced to two to six years in prison.

Mike Klis, of the Denver Post, reports Denver Broncos WR David Kircus has been identified as a "person of interest" in an alleged assault of a man early Sunday, May 20. Investigators were planning to bring Kircus in for a photo lineup, according to Arapahoe County sheriff Grayson Robinson. The victim suffered multiple broken facial bones in the alleged assault during a party Sunday, May 20. A warrant has not been issued for Kircus, though he was informed by team officials the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Department is seeking his cooperation in the case.

The Associated Press reports Denver Broncos CB Domonique Foxworth and WR David Kircus were involved in a scuffle Thursday, Aug. 17, during practice. Foxworth said, "I think I pushed him real hard and then he pushed me a little harder and then I roughed him up real good. It just escalated to the point where I had to whoop him." Head coach Mike Shanahan was not happy with the fight and said, "If you lose your poise out here then you are going to lose it in a game and I have lost a number of games because people can't keep their poise. You can't have it in practice. It doesn't happen very often, but after they are done running and those types of things, usually it doesn't happen again."

Andrew Mason, of DenverBroncos.com, reports Denver Broncos WR David Kircus has done much of his offseason work so far in the weight room, which he says has left him "stronger than I've ever been." He's played at between 180 and 190 pounds in the past and hopes to be at 200 by the time July 28 and training camp arrives. After spending several seasons with the Detroit Lions, Kircus is trying to make the final roster of the Broncos. Seattle and Tampa Bay were among the other teams that called upon Kircus this offseason, but he picked Denver. It was the Broncos' recent willingness to keep the best 53 players, regardless of draft or free agent status, that convinced Kircus to go to Denver.

Rich Mcgowan, of mlive.com, reports Denver Broncos WR David Kircus is hoping to get a fair shot at the team's No. 3 wide receiver slot. The battle looks to be wide-open. "I'm excited. I've got a better chance of playing there then I had in Detroit. It's that simple," Kircus said. After being released by Detroit at the end of last year's training camp several teams expressed interest in Kircus, but Denver gave him the best opportunity to play. "There's no politics there," Kircus said. "Mike Shanahan is a guy that if you're going to sweat and bleed for him in practice, he's going to play you. That's the reason I picked Denver over Seattle and Tampa Bay." Denver also uses the West Coast offense that Kircus is familiar with.

"Obviously I made a mistake and I accept full responsibility," Kircus said Thursday, July 21. "I feel bad for what I did to my teammates, coaches, and family." Kircus was ordered to pay $850 in fines, and he will also undergo a counseling session through the NFL's substance abuse program beginning next week. "It's something I will learn from," Kircus said. "It's a negative thing, but I have to make something positive out of it."

Updating previous reports, mlive.com reports Detroit Lions WR David Kircus admitted Wednesday, July 6, that he drove drunk last month in Georgetown Township, hours after pleading not guilty to the same charge. He initially pleaded not guilty before Hudsonville District Court Judge Kenneth D. Post. He reversed his plea after a meeting between prosecuting and defense attorneys. Kircus faces up to 93 days in jail, in addition to fines and community service, when sentenced July 26. He also has a pending traffic case for speeding in Allegan County, where he was ticketed April 17 for allegedly driving 97 in a 70-mph zone.

Mlive.com reports Detroit Lions WR David Kircus is expected to be arraigned in Hudsonville District Court Wednesday, July 6, on a drunken driving charge, court records show. Kircus was arrested Saturday, June 25, in Georgetown Township by an Ottawa County sheriff's deputy who pulled his vehicle over for an undisclosed traffic violation. After speaking with Kircus during the traffic stop, police allege he was operating under the influence of alcohol, a misdemeanor offense punishable by 93 days in jail, a $500 fine and up to 45 days of community service. Kircus was later released after posting bond. Lions' senior vice president of communications Bill Keenist said the team was aware of the situation, but he refused to comment on the arrest.

"When you come from a small school and you're not drafted that high, you have to do anything and everything to stay with it," said Kircus. "The only thing I have control over is what is on the field, whether it's in practice or in a game." Kircus noted that he has received some positive feedback from the coaches.

The only time Kircus has practiced with the first-team is when Detroit goes to three- and four-receiver sets. Kircus said the ability to line up at any of the receiver positions gives him more of an opportunity for playing time.
