Larry Mayer, of ChicagoBears.com, reports the Chicago Bears have elevated WR Carl Ford ahead of WR Bobby Wade on their depth chart due to the variety of roles Ford can perform on special teams. "Carl Ford has moved up really because of the amount of things he can do for us special teams-wise," head coach Lovie Smith said. "He's a gunner, he's on the kickoff team, he's on the punt return team. We still like Bobby as much as we did, he's just a little bit further down the depth chart right now."

K.C. Johnson, of the Chicago Tribune, reports Chicago Bears rookie QB Kyle Orton looked impressive during the Monday, Aug. 8, preseason game against the Miami Dolphins. Orton completed 7-of-11 passes for 175 yards passing - including back-to-back completions of 43 and 26 yards. The 43-yard pass was a touchdown pass to WR Carl Ford.

Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports Chicago Bears wide receivers did push-ups after the night practice Friday, July 29, following a case of the drops. WR Muhsin Muhammad dropped three during the night practice, and rookie WR Mark Bradley dropped a ball that would have kept a drive alive on fourth down in the two-minute drill. WR Carl Ford also had a bad drop on a great pass by QB Chad Hutchinson.
