Matt Maiocco, of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, reports the San Francisco 49ers recovered a fumble on a punt return and also blocked a punt during the Sunday, Sept. 7 game against the Chicago Bears. The 49ers' coverage units were solid across the board. The Bears' average start after their nine kickoff returns was the 24-yard line, and 49ers P Bill LaFleur had his best day in the professional ranks with a 41 yard net average.

According to the league's official website, the New Orleans Saints have allocated OG Nick O'Brien, WR Michael Lewis, QB Phil Stambaugh, CB Corey Harris, S Steve Gleson, DT Richard Seals and P Bill Lafleur to NFL Europe. Later today 45 other players will participate in a draft to finish the NFL Europe allocations.
