Davis' deal includes a $25,000 signing bonus, a workout bonus of $5,720 and a minimum base salary of $770,000. Because of the National Football League's minimum salary benefit, he will count only $460,000 against the salary cap.

Updating an earlier story the Journal Sentinel reports long snapper Rob Davis signed a five-year deal worth slightly more than $2.4 million, including a signing bonus thought to be between $50,000 and $100,000 with the Green Bay Packers. He'll earn the veteran's minimum salary in each of the five years of the contract. Davis was scheduled to visit the Lions yesterday and the Packers jumped in quickly to prevent his trip. Packers restricted free agent WR Corey Bradford has not made any visits yet but a NFL source said he thought the market would heat up for him next week. Coach Mike Sherman spoke with Packers free agent OL Ross Verba to get a sense of where he is at with the market. Verba indicated that he was still seeking a mega-deal, according to Sherman.

Packers.com reports the Green Bay Packers have re-signed long snapper Rob Davis to a multi-year contract. No further terms were released. The team also signed street free agent DT Carl Bradley. He was on the practice squads of Detroit and Tampa Bay last season. The Packers also released WR Rodney Williams. He had just been signed last week.

The Journal Sentinel reports Green Bay Packers MLB Bernardo Harris has signed a four-year, $11.23 million contract extension with the team. Team negotiator Andrew Brandt confirmed the deal, but would not discuss the specifics of the contract. The team will realize a salary cap savings of $1.019 million as a result of the new deal with Harris. The contract calls for Harris to earn: a $1 million base salary in 2001; a $875,000 base salary and a $1 million roster bonus in 2002; a $1.3 million base salary and a $1 million roster bonus in 2003; and a $1.95 million base salary and a $1 million roster bonus in 2004. The contract also included a $1.8 million signing bonus. The team still is considering re-signing TE Tyrone Davis and C/long snapper Rob Davis, both unrestricted free agents.

The Journal Sentinel reports Packers free agent OL Ross Verba made his expected visit to Arizona today. He will be in Cincinnati on Sunday. Other teams, Atlanta, San Diego and Jacksonville, have expressed an interest but have not scheduled visits. As previously reported, Verba does not expect to be back with the Packers. The Packers are in negotiations to keep free agent long snapper Rob Davis. Agent Kevin Gold said Davis wants to return to Green Bay, but that another undisclosed team is preparing an offer for Davis.

The Journal Sentinel reports the Green Bay Packers are still undecided about re-signing TE Tyrone Davis and long snapper Rob Davis. Both have told their agents they prefer to stay in Green Bay. Tyrone could receive an offer on the open market that beats any offer from the Packers. If that is the case, he's likely to leave. The Packers have had discussions with Rob Davis' agent and have not ruled out re-signing him. There is also a chance the team will re-sign recently released RT Earl Dotson this week. There has been some speculation Packers free agent G Ross Verba will begin his free agents visits in Atlanta this week. As previously reported, the Bengals are interested in him too.
