Updating yesterday's story, ESPN's reports the three-year contract signed with the Kansas City Chiefs by rookie LB Maurice Rodriguez is valued at $940,000. Base salaries will be $225,000 in 2002, $300,000 in 2003 and $380,000 in 2004. The signing bonus is not confirmed, but based on his position in the round, Rodriguez probably received upfront money of $35,000 to $37,000.

A lot of team's stayed away because QB David Carr is a sure top three pick. Taking part in the workout were DT Alan Harper, LB Maurice Rodriguez, RB Paris Gaines, safeties Vernon Fox and Anthony Limbrick, CBs Tierre Sams and Devon Banks, WRs Rodney Wright and Charles Smith and NT Grant Harrington. WR Atnaf Harris and RB James Tillman, who did not play in 2001 also took part. Harper bulked up to 296 pounds, after playing last year at 278. Harper bench-pressed 225 pounds 24 times and ran the 40 in 5.2 seconds.
