Alex Marvez, of the Sun-Sentinel, reports the Miami Dolphins plan to hold off on signing free agent WR Antonio Freeman (Packers). The team wants to keep their options open in case a faster receiver becomes available through a trade or free agency, according to an NFL source. "We're talking to a lot of different free-agent players at a lot of different positions," Dolphins head coach Dave Wannstedt said. "We'll keep looking and hopefully the right guy will come along and we will add him to the roster." Miami is expected to re-evaluate signing Freeman after seeing how their reserve wide receivers perform in the Saturday, Aug. 14, preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

WR Javon Walker is the only healthy receiver who has been with Favre since camp opened. WR Antonio Freeman is still working himself into shape. The coaches will have to make alterations depending on WR Robert Ferguson's (knee) status. Favre has struggled the last two weeks in part because of the unfamiliarity at the receiver position.

They don't seem to have a very strong interest in WR Antonio Freeman even though he could step in and know the offense immediately. Freeman is still on the street. Someone like free agent WRs Charles Lee (Buccaneers) or Troy Edwards (Rams) could be possibilities.
