He works out diligently and still feels he can help some team on the field and as a veteran presence with younger wide receivers. Freeman was timed in the mid-4.5s running a 40-yard dash last week. That's not much slower than he ran in his prime.

Alex Marvez, of the Sun-Sentinel, reports the Miami Dolphins plan to hold off on signing free agent WR Antonio Freeman (Packers). The team wants to keep their options open in case a faster receiver becomes available through a trade or free agency, according to an NFL source. "We're talking to a lot of different free-agent players at a lot of different positions," Dolphins head coach Dave Wannstedt said. "We'll keep looking and hopefully the right guy will come along and we will add him to the roster." Miami is expected to re-evaluate signing Freeman after seeing how their reserve wide receivers perform in the Saturday, Aug. 14, preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Freeman, 32, has spent his entire career in a West Coast offensive scheme, which the Dolphins do not use.
