Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White has set a new career-high for receptions in a season with 91 catches, surpassing his previous best of 88 back in 2008, reports D. Orlando Ledbetter, of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. White is just nine catches shy of becoming the first Falcons receiver to catch 100 balls in a season since former RB Eric Metcalf in 1995.

During a conference call on Thursday, Green Bay Packers head coach Mike Sherman said it’s going to be a wait and see situation as to whether or not PR/WR Eric Metcalf will play in week seventeen. He had a good practice on Wednesday and the team is continuing to work with him.

The Associated Press reports Washington Redskins return specialist Eric Metcalf set an NFL record with his 12th kick or punt return for a touchdown in Sunday's game against the New York Giants. He took a punt back 90 yards earlier today. It was Metcalf's 10th punt return for a touchdown, extending his NFL record.

The Washington Post reports head coach Marty Schottenheimer said return specialist Eric Metcalf, who the team signed yesterday for special team duties, may also play some at wide receiver down the line. Metcalf can also play the running back position but no word if Schottenheimer will use him there as well.

According to the Washington Post, the Washington Redskins have signed WR/RB and return specialist Eric Metcalf. Agent Brig Owens said Metcalf signed a contract with the Redskins for the remainder of this season. The deal probably will pay Metcalf $291,500, a prorated portion of the veteran's minimum salary of $477,000. He was scheduled to practice with the Redskins this afternoon and likely will be the team's punt returner in Sunday's game against the New York Giants.

Yesterday we reported the Washington Redskins were going to workout several candidates for their punt returner position. Today, the Washington Post reports the workouts were given to free agents Eric Metcalf and Nate Jacquet. The team did not sign either player.
