Free-agent PK Jeff Reed (Seahawks) said he is looking to make a comeback and hopes to be one of the first kickers called if team loses a kicker to an injury. Reed said he was contacted by Tennessee Titans head coach Ken Whisenhunt about a possible workout.

San Francisco 49ers PK Joe Nedney (knee) appears to have suffered a significant setback with his strained right knee injury, reports Eric Branch, of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat. Personnel director Trent Baalke said Friday, Dec. 3, that Nedney will have a medical exam Monday, Dec. 6, and said it "doesn't look good" in discussing Nedney's chances of returning this season. PK Jeff Reed (Steelers) was signed earlier this week to fill in for Week 13 against the Green Bay Packers.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are considering cutting PK Jeff Reed after he missed his seventh field goal of the year in Week 10, according to ESPN.com. The team plans to bring in kickers to work out Tuesday, Nov. 16. "I'm not one to make excuses," Reed said. "I'll take the credit for the miss. It was a great snap, a great hold, great protection. It's kind of hard when you plant your foot and the hole - a piece of ground moves where the ball's under the holder. I almost missed the ball completely."

The team told Reed earlier in the year they wanted to work out a long-term contract. Reed said, "All I can do is play this year out and that's pretty much it. I was very optimistic last offseason and that didn't get me anywhere."

The Associated Press reports a Pennsylvania judge has dismissed two of the four charges Pittsburgh Steelers PK Jeff Reed received during an incident last October. The judge dismissed the simple assault and resisting arrest charges. Reed still faces disorderly conduct and public drunkenness charges, but the judge postponed a decision on those charges.

Reed was cited for simple assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness during an incident Oct. 18.

ESPN.com reports the agent for Pittsburgh Steelers PK Jeff Reed, Don Henderson, denied his client tried to fight with police outside a bar Sunday, Oct. 18. Police say Reed took a "fighting stance" when officers arrived to cite TE Matt Spaeth for allegedly urinating in public, and became unruly when police tried to restrain him. "We're contesting it," Henderson told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "It involved somebody else on the team, he got out to try to help and basically got attacked by the police. He was with his parents. He got out and tried to help and evidently they didn't want to hear that ... It was somebody else trying to do something and Jeff ended up getting slammed in the middle."

Reed threw a temper tantrum at a Sheetz convenience store in New Alexandria, Pa., because its restroom did not have any towels. Police said Reed broke the towel dispenser and then used profane language to an employee and also outside the store.
