Brian Schmitz reports for the Orlando Sentinel former NFL WR Albert Connell is looking for a fresh start with the Orlando Predators of the Arena Football League. Connell can't accept people thinking he's a thief. "I haven't done anything wrong," he says. Connell called last season's incident in New Orleans a "prank." "It was a prank," Connell said Friday. "It got blown out of proportion." He was accused of stealing from his teammate, RB Deuce McAllister. Connell said he gave the money back to McAllister each time, and that the two remain friends.

ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports former New Orleans Saints WR Albert Connell had theft charges against him dropped following restitution being paid to Saints RB Deuce McAllister. It was alleged that Connell had stolen over $4,363 from McAllister, but Connell said all along it was just a prank. McAllister said he was repaid in December and apprised the district attorney that he wanted the charges against Connell dropped.

According to the Biloxi Sun Herald, and as an update to previous reports, the New Orleans Saints will cut WR Albert Connell this week. Connell was signed as a free agent last summer.

Jeff Duncan of the Times-Picayune reports for the Sporting News the New Orleans Saints are not expected to re-sign free agent CB Fred Weary. Also, CB Steve Israel, a bust since signing a $4.5-million deal in 2000, is expected to be released. WR Albert Connell and his off-the-field issues are all but gone and as previously reported QB Jeff Blake is also expected to be released.

The AP reports a decision whether felony charges will be filed against New Orleans Saints WR Albert Connell will be made in the next few weeks, a prosecutor said Tuesday. Connell was arrested and booked in December for allegedly stealing more than $4,000 from teammate Deuce McAllister. He faces up to 10 years in prison and a $3,000 fine if formally charged and convicted. Peter Schaffer, Connell's agent, refused to comment on Tuesday and said Connell would have no comment. Connell repaid the money taken from McAllister.

Updating an earlier story, John Clayton reports for ESPN New Orleans Saints WR Albert Connell surrendered Friday after authorities issued arrest warrants for two counts of alleged theft. Jefferson Parish Sheriff Harry Lee issued no other comment about the case. "We are fully aware of the circumstances surrounding this,’’ said his attorney, Peter Schaffer. "We’re completely confident he’s going to be exonerated. He’s looking forward to getting back to playing in the NFL and rooting for the Saints.’’

Associated Press reports two arrest warrants for New Orleans Saints WR Albert Connell were issued on Friday. He allegedly stole more than $4,000 from teammate Deuce McAllister. The first warrant alleges he took $863 from McAllister's locker, the second alleges he took $3,500 from McAllister's car. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 10 years in prison and a $3,000 fine.
