As an update to previous reports, Len Pasquarelli for ESPN.com reports the three-year deal agreed to by New Orleans Saints DE Derrius Monroe is worth $942,000 and includes a $37,000 signing bonus. He will receive base salaries of $225,000 (2002), $300,000 (2003), and $380,000 (2004).

The Times-Picayune reports New Orleans Saints seventh-round draft pick, DE Derrius Monroe, caught the coaching staff's eyes at this weekend's mini-camp. He showed extraordinary speed at defensive end. "Monroe is incredibly fast off the edge," Saints coach Jim Haslett said. "He's got a ways to go, but he's a heck of an athlete. I liked what I saw from him."
