Cardinals | Yadier Molina wants to stay

Fri, 10 Feb 2012 05:54:35 -0800

St. Louis Cardinals C Yadier Molina insists the public, rocky, separation between his good friend Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Albert Pujols and the Cardinals hasn't affected his desire to stay with the team. Molina was absent from the Winter Warm-Up and didn't accompany the team to the White House visit, fueling speculation Molina was angry with the team. Molina said he made his decision for personal reasons having to do with charity work performed in Puerto Rico and made a donation to Cardinals Care to offset money lost due to his absence. "I'm sorry I didn't make it the last two years, but I had something I had to do back home," Molina said. "It doesn't mean I won't come next year or hopefully the next five or six years. I love the city. I love the fans. I love the ballpark. Whatever they like to do is how it is… It's business for the team, too. It's out of my hands."

Cardinals | Press conference scheduled

Mon, 31 Oct 2011 06:18:21 -0700

The St. Louis Cardinals have scheduled a press conference for 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 31. There is no word on what it has been called for, but it's extremely unlikely that the team has struck a deal with free-agent-to-be 1B Albert Pujols. It's probable that the team has exercised C Yadier Molina's option, and manager Tony La Russa could be announcing his return for 2012.
