Tampa Bay Rays C Jose Molina may be an option for the St. Louis Cardinals to replace C Yadier Molina (thumb), in the opinion of ESPN's Buster Olney, who believes the Rays will listen to a trade offer.
Fantasy Tip: Molina would only be valuable as a league crossover commodity for NL-only players. He has done little at the plate, as usual.

The St. Louis Cardinals intend to take time to research the market for a catcher, after losing C Yadier Molina (thumb) for an extended period of time. They do not need to make a move before the All-Star break. Seattle Mariners C John Buck could be a trade target.
Fantasy Tip: Buck has always been a solid source of power, but he struggles to hit for average. He would be worth an addition in NL-only leagues; if he joins the Cardinals. A.J. Pierzynski could also be an option for the Cardinals, as he was recently demoted by the Boston Red Sox. Pierzynski would also be a solid NL-only target, if he joined St. Louis.

St. Louis Cardinals C Yadier Molina (thumb) has a torn ligament in his thumb and will be out eight to 12 weeks.
Fantasy Tip: This is a prolonged period of time and could end Molina's season. He is worth stashing in a disabled list slot in all formats, but fantasy owners should not bank on him helping significantly again in 2014. Tony Cruz should see the majority of starts behind the plate. In NL-only formats, Cruz's value goes up considerably.

Updating a previous report, St. Louis Cardinals C Yadier Molina (thumb) left the game in the bottom of the third inning against the Pittsburgh Pirates for a pinch hitter. He injured his thumb sliding in the bottom of the second inning, but remained in the game initially. However, he appeared to be shaking the thumb when in on defense, and he was removed when he returned to the dugout.
Fantasy Tip: This bears watching, as Molina is one of the top catchers in the game. He could have been lifted as a precaution, and it is no big deal. He will likely go for further tests, and more information will be available later.
