Megan Manfull, of the Houston Chronicle, reports the Houston Texans worked out free agent FB Robert Holcomb after practice Wednesday, May 24. "We're going to continue looking at backs," Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said. "To be honest, right now we're looking for a fullback type of guy. Robert's a little bit of a tweener. He can play both."

Jeff Legwold, of the Tennessean, reports Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger believes the fullback role should involve more than just lead blocking on offense. ''I want somebody who can take the ball and make something happen," Heimerdinger said. "And he doesn't have to be a killer blocker either, but he does have to be able to hold up and get it done inside. I also want somebody who can take the ball, make somebody miss and get you 15.'' The team believes FBs Robert Holcombe and rookie Troy Fleming have the versatility to fill that role. '''Now we would not hesitate to open the backfield, line the fullback out wide," head coach Jeff Fisher said. "We've got two pretty good players in there right now.''

Jeff Legwold, of the Tennessean, reports Tennessee Titans RB Robert Holcombe was asked by head coach Jeff Fisher to lose some of the additional weight he put on during the offseason. Holcombe bulked up to 233 pounds after playing last season at around 220. "We're going to ask him to just come back down a little bit," Fisher said. "And he will. We don't think we need to get him up to where he was when he was playing with the (St. Louis) Rams. We want to still be flexible enough to line up on third down and play for us, play fullback and play special teams."

Gary Glenn, of TitansOnline.com, reports Tennessee Titans RB Robert Holcombe will make the switch from running back to fullback this season. In preparation for the move, Holcombe has added 10 pounds to his playing weight of 215 pounds last season. "I knew I was probably going to have to come in and play some fullback," Holcombe said, "so I thought it would be better to come in a little heavier, lose some in training camp and settle at about 225 rather than coming in at 215 and try to gain weight during the season because that's a hard thing to do."

Jeff Legwold, of the Tennessean, reports Tennessee Titans RB Robert Holcombe (hamstring) was limited in practice Wednesday, Jan. 7, for the second straight day. Holcombe remains questionable for the Saturday, Jan. 10, AFC Divisional Playoff game against the New England Patriots. Holcombe said he wants to play and would get to split time between playing at fullback as well as running back if he is uniform. However, the Titans will keep a close eye on him, if he has any trouble this week, they will keep him out of the lineup because they can't afford to have him active only to be unable to finish the game. The Titans need every available body on special teams.

The Tennessean reports Tennessee Titans RB Eddie George sat out most of the fourth quarter of Sunday's game after a rather ineffective performance. He knew his role for the team. "I had to play cheerleader, encourage my teammates and watch them go to war without me," George said. "What else can I do? Iím not going to mope about it, bicker about it. Iím going to continue to be a leader and encourage them to try and get a victory." RB Robert Holcombe was the featured back on Tennesseeís last three possessions. "I just wanted a change-up," Coach Jeff Fisher said. "The field was real sluggish, and I just wanted to change it up and see if I could get somebody quicker through the hole."
