Braves | Eury Perez draws into lineup

Wed, 01 Jul 2015 14:55:55 -0700

Atlanta Braves OF Eury Perez is starting in left field and hitting eighth against Washington Nationals SP Doug Fister Wednesday, July 1. OF Kelly Johnson is receiving the start at first base.

Fantasy Tip: Perez ($1,700, 3.4% of cap), who has eight hits in 28 at-bats (.286) is strictly a source of salary cap relief as a deep sleeper on FantasyScore. Johnson ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is a midrange outfield commodity in daily games, and all six of his home runs have come against righties this year. However, Fister is a ground-ball pitcher, leaving Johnson with limited upside tonight.

Braves | Kelly Johnson out of the lineup

Sun, 28 Jun 2015 08:06:08 -0700

Atlanta Braves OF Kelly Johnson is not in the starting lineup against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Jeff Locke Sunday, June 28. OF Jonny Gomes will start in left field and is batting seventh in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) probably is sitting out because the team is facing a left-handed pitcher. Gomes ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) has only one hit in his last eight games and is not the best option for owners on FantasyScore.

Atlanta Braves OF Kelly Johnson is starting in left field and batting sixth against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Charlie Morton Saturday, June 27.

Braves | Kelly Johnson starting at 3B

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 12:10:56 -0700

Atlanta Braves OF Kelly Johnson is receiving the start at third base and is batting sixth against Washington Nationals SP Jordan Zimmermann Wednesday, June 24. 3B Juan Uribe is taking the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) does have all six of his home runs against right-handed pitchers this year, but he doesn't really move the needle all that much on FantasyScore. Zimmermann has been very good at home this year, too, sporting a 2.75 ERA and 34 strikeouts in 52 1/3 innings.

Braves | Chris Johnson, Kelly Johnson at 1B

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 10:44:06 -0700

Atlanta Braves 3B Chris Johnson and OF Kelly Johnson are likely to fill in at first base with 1B Freddie Freeman (wrist) on the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Neither Johnson is particularly attractive to owners outside of deep mixed and NL-only leagues, and they could form a platoon at first base over the next couple of weeks. At FantasyScore, they are both midrange sleeper picks based on matchups.

Braves | Freddie Freeman remains out of lineup

Sat, 20 Jun 2015 13:43:53 -0700

Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman (wrist) remains out of the lineup Saturday, June 20, against the New York Mets. OF Kelly Johnson will start at first base and hit third in the order against RHP Noah Syndergaard.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) is just 2-for-15 in his last four games, but he has hit all of his six home runs this season against righties. Johnson's .255 batting average against right-handers this season represent his risk, but he does have power upside for FantasyScore owners.

Braves | Kelly Johnson hitting third

Fri, 19 Jun 2015 13:40:52 -0700

Atlanta Braves OF Kelly Johnson is playing first base and batting third against New York Mets SP Jacob deGrom Friday, June 19.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($3,400. 6.8% of cap) has six home runs, 21 RBI and a .785 OPS over 115 plate appearances this season, and typically, he is a low-priced flier in favorable matchups for FantasyScore players. deGrom doesn't qualify as a favorable matchup, though. Even at the low cap hit, Johnson stands as a risky play in daily contests Friday.

Braves | Kelly Johnson to be DH

Mon, 15 Jun 2015 13:38:30 -0700

Atlanta Braves OF Kelly Johnson will serve as the designated hitter against Boston Red Sox SP Rick Porcello Monday, June 15. OF Jonny Gomes will start in left field and is batting eighth in the starting lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) has picked up six hits and three RBI in four games since returning from injury. Owners could consider Johnson as a starting option on FantasyScore. Gomes ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) has picked up at least one hit in four of his last five games but is hitting only .214 on the season and may not be a great option for owners.

Sat, 13 Jun 2015 11:04:31 -0700

Atlanta Braves OF Kelly Johnson will start in left field and bat fifth against the New York Mets Saturday, June 13. OF Jonny Gomes is getting the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) is batting .270 with six home runs and 19 RBIs through 31 games this season and is 3-for-8 since returning from the DL. He is a notable source of cap relief for FantasyScore owners.

Braves | Kelly Johnson not in lineup

Fri, 12 Jun 2015 13:52:40 -0700

Atlanta Braves OF Kelly Johnson is not in the starting lineup Friday, June 12. OF Jonny Gomes is starting in left field and hitting seventh against New York Mets SP Bartolo Colon.

Fantasy Tip: Gomes ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) hasn't done much at all in 2015 (.206-3-11 in 107 at-bats), but he is 8-for-24 (.333) with three home runs and three RBI in his career against Colon, who has been much worse at Citi Field this season. Consider Gomes worthy of attention as a deep sleeper to save you valuable cap space on FantasyScore.
