Braves | Kelly Johnson has been surprising

Tue, 05 May 2015 17:52:54 -0700

Atlanta Braves 2B Kelly Johnson entered the game Tuesday, May 5, against the Philadelphia Phillies with a team-high five home runs in 61 at-bats. He is also second on the team with 13 RBIs and a .525 slugging percentage.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($1,800; 3.6% of cap) is a nice cheap source of power for FantasyScore owners at second base, and he will also help to save salary to spread across other positions.

Braves | Kelly Johnson sitting vs. Phillies

Mon, 04 May 2015 13:43:02 -0700

Atlanta Braves 3B Kelly Johnson is not in the starting lineup against the Philadelphia Phillies Monday, May 4.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has been a pleasant surprise for the Braves with 10 runs, five home runs and 13 RBI on the season. His .533 slugging percentage leads the team, too. Fantasy owners should be a little skeptical, though, and Johnson is more of a desperation add than anything in seasonal formats. However, FantasyScore players could take a low-priced flier when he faces a favorable pitching matchup.

Braves | Kelly Johnson hitting cleanup

Thu, 30 Apr 2015 12:06:06 -0700

Atlanta Braves OF Kelly Johnson is starting in left field and hitting cleanup against Cincinnati Reds SP Mike Leake Thursday, April 30.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) isn't an exciting piece to any FantasyScore lineup, but hitting cleanup could make him a nice value play today against Leake. Johnson does have five hits, including a home run, in 13 career at-bats against Leake.

Braves | Kelly Johnson receives another start

Tue, 28 Apr 2015 13:20:02 -0700

Atlanta Braves 3B Kelly Johnson is starting in left field and hitting sixth in the batting order against Washington Nationals SP A.J. Cole Tuesday, April 28. OF Eric Young Jr. is sitting on the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) hit his third home run of the year last night, and he's hitting .375 (6-for-16) with a dinger and five RBI since April 22. He remains a sleeper pick for a cheap price at FantasyScore, but he's once again attractive while Cole makes his major league debut tonight.

Braves | Kelly Johnson starting Sunday

Sun, 26 Apr 2015 08:30:01 -0700

Atlanta Braves 3B Kelly Johnson will be the starting third baseman Sunday, April 26.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) picked up an RBI in his last game but only has three RBI his season and is batting .200. Owners on FantasyScore likely will be able to find better options to use at the position.

Braves | Kelly Johnson receives starting nod

Wed, 22 Apr 2015 13:30:44 -0700

Atlanta Braves 2B Kelly Johnson is starting in left field and hitting sixth in the batting order against New York Mets SP Dillon Gee Wednesday, April 22.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has two home runs on the young season, but he's hitting .182 (4-for-22). He's a weak FantasyScore play tonight, considering he also hit just .220 (50-for-227) against right-handers in 2014, although six of his seven home runs came against them.

Braves | Nick Markakis not playing

Wed, 15 Apr 2015 08:25:42 -0700

Atlanta Braves OF Nick Markakis is not in the starting lineup against Miami Marlins SP Dan Haren Wednesday, April 15. 2B Kelly Johnson is starting in right field and hitting fifth in the batting order.

Fantasy Tip: Markakis is likely just receiving an off day in a day game following a night contest. Johnson ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) isn't a recommendation at FantasyScore Wednesday. He managed to hit just .220 with six home runs against right-handed pitchers in 2014.

Braves | Cameron Maybin out vs. Fish

Tue, 14 Apr 2015 14:54:28 -0700

Atlanta Braves OF Cameron Maybin is not in the starting lineup against Miami Marlins SP Tom Koehler Tuesday, April 14. 2B Kelly Johnson is starting in left field and hitting seventh in the batting order.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like a normal off day for Maybin Tuesday night. Johnson ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has virtually no offensive upside and should be considered a weak play at FantasyScore, even while going up against Koehler.

Braves | Kelly Johnson wins utility job in ATL

Tue, 31 Mar 2015 22:03:50 -0700

Atlanta Braves 3B Kelly Johnson was placed on the 25-man roster at the deadline Tuesday, March 31. He is expected to provide depth at first base, second base, third base and the outfield.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson isn't likely to start at any one position, but the utility player should find plenty of at-bats. He is a low-end FantasyScore option at $2,500 (or 5.0% of cap).

Braves | Jose Pereza among Braves' options at 2B

Thu, 26 Feb 2015 18:33:28 -0800

Atlanta Braves 2B Jose Peraza, 2B Alberto Callaspo, 2B Phil Gosselin, SS Jace Peterson and 3B Kelly Johnson are all part of a "wide open" competition for the starting second base job, manager Fredi Gonzalez said Thursday, Feb. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Peraza is the Braves' top-ranked prospect, and whether or not he wins the starting gig out of Spring Training, he is probably worth stashing, especially in NL-only leagues.
