Panthers | Biakabutuka Still Tops Franchise Rushing List

Mon, 18 Jul 2005 22:18:48 -0700

Bret Borden, of Panthers.com, reports former Carolina Panthers RB Tim Biakabutuka is still atop the Carolina Panthers' all-time rushing list, and no one is within 500 yards of him. But Biakabutuka, the Panthers top draft choice in 1996, doesn't think in terms of what he accomplished in six years with Carolina. Instead he thinks about the things he couldn't accomplish because of injuries that befuddled him throughout his six-year career. "Once Stephen Davis plays two more years, he's going to smash my records," said Biakabutuka, who remains in Charlotte and owns and operates one jewelry store with plans to open a second. "I never got a chance to do what I wanted to do. That was the frustrating thing. I never had a chance to have that good season."

Panthers | OL Notes | More

Mon, 26 Feb 2001 01:19:15 -0800

Pat Yasinskas reports in the Sporting News free agency could play havoc with the Panthers offensive line. Starters Matt Campbell, Frank Garcia and Clarence Jones are all free agents, but Campbell and Garcia could re-sign with the team after testing the market. The team currently plans to switch ORT Chris Terry to the left side. The team will then look for an inexpensive free agent to compete with Jeno James as the starting right tackle. ORG Jamar Nesbit could also move to center. RB is another position that could be addressed. Although coach George Seifert said Tim Biakabutuka's roster spot is safe, the team would like another back to compete with him in training camp. The team could potentially pursue Seattle RB Ricky Watters if he is released or via trade. FS Eugene Robinson isn't likely to be re-signed. The team may not be able to afford re-signing WR Isaac Byrd.
