MLB | Free Cubans Want to Play in WBC

Updating a continuing story, the Associated Press' Luis R. Varela reports a group of free Cubans wants to participate in the World Baseball Classic. The group includes Osvaldo Fernandez, Eddie Oropesa and Rene Arocha, and hopes to recruit Chicago White Sox SP Jose Contreras, Washington Nationals SP Livan Hernandez and Arizona Diamondbacks SP Orlando Hernandez. However, MLB is only dealing with entities recognized by the International Baseball Federation.

The Associated Press reports Cuban pitcher Osvaldo Fernandez allowed eight hits and six runs for Puerto Rico in a 10-4 loss to Mexico in Tuesday's Caribbean Series game.
