The Tampa Tribune's Scott Carter reports the Tampa Bay Devil Rays want to acquire a left-handed bat or an extra middle infielder and are likely using some relievers as bait. The team expects a deal to take place before the season starts. RPs Bobby Seay, Jorge Sosa and/or Jose Diaz could be dealt. "Our pitching is here," manager Lou Piniella said. "We're not going anywhere for pitching. What we have here is what we are going to leave with. We might leave with our [current] offense here, but I think we need to add another bat. Remember, we're very thin, and one injury will really create a big problem for us."
