Joseph Duarte, of the Houston Chronicle, reports Houston Texans QB David Carr (shoulder) was shoved hard to the ground by Tennessee Titans DT Albert Haynesworth and briefly had to leave the game Sunday, Oct. 12. He was re-evaluated back in Houston and head coach Dom Capers said doctors determined Carr did not suffer a concussion during the hit. Carr avoided serious after landing on his right shoulder near the sideline and was replaced by backup QB Tony Banks for one play before returning to the game.

The Washington Post reports the Washington Redskins could still pursue QBs Drew Bledsoe (New England), via trade or Chris Chandler (Atlanta) via free agency to join their team. Coach Steve Spurrier also said he will give newly acquired QB Danny Wuerffel a chance to earn the team's starting job next season. Spurrier said that re-signing free agent QB Tony Banks "hasn't been completely ruled out," but added, "I watched last year's games, and the Redskins weren't very good on offense.

The Washington Post reports NFL sources said free agent QB Trent Dilfer is interested in signing with the Washington Redskins. It was not clear Tuesday whether the Redskins will pursue Dilfer when the league's free agent market opens March 1. Coach Steve Spurrier said he will invite incumbent starter Tony Banks and veteran backup Kent Graham to the team's first mini-camp next month but does not know if either will attend. The Redskins have reportedly informed QB Jeff George that they will not consider signing him. Agent Michael Sullivan said yesterday that Dilfer probably will be on the market this off-season, looking to start. Sullivan declined to comment when asked about Dilfer's potential interest in the Redskins.
