Fantasy Tip: The Yanks could definitely use Youkilis back at the hot corner and in their lineup. Jayson Nix has shifted over to shortstop with Eduardo Nunez (ribs) out and Chris Nelson is manning third base right now. Both Nix and Nelson should be limited to use in AL-only leagues, and when Youk returns, they won't have much value left.

Fantasy Tip: A-Rod won't be back until after the All-Star break, but it's a good sign that he's already going through baseball activities. With Kevin Youkilis (back) on the DL, Jayson Nix will continue to share duties at the hot corner with Chris Nelson.

New York Yankees 3B Kevin Youkilis (back) received an epidural injection for his lumbar spine sprain, and he could return around the middle of the month. Youkilis won't be able to return from the disabled list until May 13 after playing over the weekend, which the team acknowledged was a mistake. He said the epidural will take roughly a week to fully medicate. Youkilis' injury has caused the same inflammation and bulge of a disc in his back that he's had previously. He believes the epidural will fix the issue. Doctors have told Youkilis that surgery isn't needed.

The New York Yankees placed 3B Kevin Youkilis (back) on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, April 30, and recalled INF Corban Joseph from the minors in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Youkilis' injury doesn't seem to be too serious, but he aggravated it while playing over the weekend, and the Yanks can't afford to play a man short for any longer. The club is calling the injury a lumbar spine sprain, and he was given an epidural injection. Jayson Nix will continue starting at the hot corner in Youkilis' absence. Consider Nix only in AL-only formats.

New York Yankees 3B Kevin Youkilis (back) underwent an MRI on a back issue Monday, April 29, with the results coming back negative. The Yankees are considering placing Youkilis on the disabled list.
