Cardinals | Injury Notes

Wed, 29 Aug 2001 05:19:23 -0700

The Arizona Republic reports Arizona Cardinals PK Cary Blanchard had an MRI which revealed he has a torn abductor tendon in his right big toe. A decision will be made as to whether the kicker will undergo surgery, which could sideline him at least three months, or whether he'll spend a similar period waiting for the injury to heal. He suffered the injury two weeks ago when he missed a field-goal attempt against Seattle. The Cards could put him on IR or release him with an injury settlement. DT Mao Tosi (stiff neck) missed practice Tuesday morning. WR MarTay Jenkins (bruised quadriceps) and LB Johnny Rutledge (hamstring) missed their second straight practice.

PK Cary Blanchard, apparently trailing rookie PK Bill Gramatica in the race to be the team's place kicker, missed practice with a swollen foot. McGinnis did not know how Blanchard was injured.
