New York Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira (wrist) will move to live batting practice next. He's only hit in the cages so far in his rehab, and the team refuses to put a timetable on his return.

Fantasy Tip: Don't expect Teixeira to return until some point in June, probably a few weeks into the month. The Yankees are being extremely cautious with their first baseman, because a setback once he returns to action would probably mean season-ending surgery. Be patient. Lyle Overbay has been a nice surprise and will continue to carry AL-only value while Tex is out.

New York Yankees 1B Lyle Overbay collected a career-high four hits in five at-bats Friday, May 10, against the Kansas City Royals. He had a pair of doubles, a home run and five RBIs.

New York Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira (wrist) has started hitting off a tee and will return to work out in Florida Monday, May 6.

Fantasy Tip: This represents progress for Teixeira, who had been stuck taking dry swings for a while. Still, he shouldn't be expected to return to the Bronx until later this month or early in June. Lyle Overbay will continue to hold down the fort at first base.

New York Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira (wrist) is still being limited to taking dry swings, and it's unknown when he'll move to hitting soft toss and off a tee.

Fantasy Tip: The Yankees must be very cautious not to bring Tex back too soon, which is why he hasn't made much progress recently. It's now looking like Teixeira won't be back with the Yankees until sometime around mid-March, so expect Lyle Overbay to continue getting starts at first base until then.

New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi said the team will decide Saturday, April 27, whether to place 3B Kevin Youkilis (back) on the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Unfortunately for the Yankees, their big-name starts - Mark Teixeira (wrist), Curtis Granderson (forearm) and Derek Jeter (ankle) - aren't back yet. If Youk lands on the DL, expect Jayson Nix to fill the hot corner vacancy and Lyle Overbay to continue starting at first base. Nix and Overbay are strictly AL-only material.

New York Yankees OF Brennan Boesch has been taking grounders at first base, and manager Joe Girardi said he wants to find ways to get Boesch's bat in the lineup more often. Boesch is slated to play right field and bat sixth in the order with OF Ichiro Suzuki taking the day off Wednesday, April 10. Suzuki is hitting just .185 and 1B Lyle Overbay is batting only .250 so far this year. Boesch, however, hasn't played first since high school.

Fantasy Tip: Boesch just got a little more intriguing in AL-only leagues, especially if he can make enough starts at first base to gain positional eligibility there. A left stick with as much pop as his is even more useful in a park such as Yankee Stadium.

New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Wednesday, March 27, that 1B Lyle Overbay will play Thursday, March 28, and he is on the travel list for exhibition games in Washington D.C. and West Point. Overbay had two hits in five at-bats Wednesday, March 27, too.
