Seattle Mariners manager Eric Wedge said Thursday, Jan. 26, that he's still not sure if OF Ichiro Suzuki will be the team's leadoff hitter this year. Also, he said that C Miguel Olivo will be the every day catcher, which will likely push C Jesus Montero to the designated hitter spot.

Seattle Mariners C John Jaso could be used to platoon behind the plate with Cs Miguel Olivo and Adam Moore next season. Olivo and Moore both hit right-handed, while Jaso is a lefty.

Seattle Mariners C Miguel Olivo (knee) banged his right knee into the brick wall behind home plate after chasing a foul popup in the fourth inning Saturday, Sept. 24, against the Texas Rangers. He remained down for several minutes but stayed in the game.

Seattle Mariners C Miguel Olivo hit a grand slam in the eighth inning of a loss to the Toronto Blue Jays Thursday, July 21. It was Olivo's 13th homer of the year and second career grand slam.

Seattle Mariners manager Eric Wedge said 1B Mike Carp was optioned to the minor leagues Sunday, July 3, due to uncertainty surrounding the status of C Miguel Olivo's (hamstring) injury. When Olivo is healthy, the Mariners are expected to send C Jose Yepez to the minors.

Seattle Mariners C Miguel Olivo (hamstring) is out of the lineup again Friday, July 1, with muscle cramps in his right hamstring. However, manager Eric Wedge said Olivo is close to a return. C Jose Yepez will likely be sent down when Olivo returns to full health.
