The Tribune Review reports former Pittsburgh Steelers FB Jon Witman would like to re-sign with the team, but at this point the team is prepared to go with Dan Kreider as the starting fullback and rookie Verron Haynes as the backup. Witman won't attempt a comeback unless it's with the Steelers.

The Post Gazette reports these weekend's NFL Draft is expected to have an impact on several veteran Pittsburgh Steelers players. S Myron Bell, LB Mike Jones and FB Jon Witman are the three players most impacted. As reported previously, it is expected Witman will no longer be re-signed since the team drafted FB Verron Haynes. Bell also is an unrestricted free agent and won't be re-signed. Jones and his $750,000 salary could be released since the team drafted LB Larry Foote and signed free agent LB James Farrior. The drafting of WR Antwaan Randle El will make it tougher for WR Troy Edwards to make the final roster as well.
