The Major League Baseball Players Union has filed a grievance and appeal on behalf of San Francisco Giants RP Guillermo Mota, who was suspended 100 games for testing positive for a banned substance for the second time in his career.

San Francisco Giants SP Jonathan Sanchez (ankle) will throw off flat ground to test his left ankle Friday, Aug. 19. The session will determine if he will be able to make his start Sunday, Aug. 21. If Sanchez can't go, manager Bruce Bochy said he will be replaced by either Ps Dan Runzler or Guillermo Mota.
