Chick Ludwig, of the Dayton Daily News, reporting for the Sporting News, reports Cincinnati Bengals second-year DL Domata Peko's role will increase in the 4-3 defense because of his size, strength, quickness, and production. He's a lock as the top sub in the defensive tackle rotation and could emerge as a starter if DL Sam Adams or DL John Thornton falters.

Geoff Hobson, of Bengals.com, reports Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis has challenged some of his defensive players to have more productive seasons in 2007, particularly DT Sam Adams and LB Brian Simmons, who both battled injuries in 2006 and are at the latter stages of their respective careers. "Both guys are very smart guys and realize you have to do other things as you get toward the end," Lewis said. "This is kind of (Adams') last hurrah. Go out with a blaze of guns. He has to put all his eggs in this basket and get himself right and have a better season. (For Simmons) it's kind of the same thing. They're at an important point in their careers."

Adams's investment group includes RB Rudi Johnson, Cincinnati Reds OF Ken Griffey Jr. and Reds team physician Dr. Timothy Kremchek. Bengals CB Tory James and WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh are also expected to join the investment group, according to Adams. The defensive lineman also owns the Everett Hawks, which is another af2 team.
