Arizona Diamondbacks RP J.J. Putz has been averaging 91.8 mph on his fastball but was able to throw 94-95 mph during his outing Tuesday, May 15. Manager Kirk Gibson said Putz has been working with pitching coach Charles Nagy on his pitching mechanics which helped with the added velocity. "The way his load is," Gibson said, "he was getting too far forward. (Pitchers go) back before they go forward. He just wasn't getting back. Charlie talked to him about it. I think he looked at a ton of video over the last week to 10 days. They talked about it and put some time in in the bullpen."
